How We Source Our Linen

Meeting our Belgian linen mill — three generations of expertise, direct relationships, and full supply chain transparency.

How We Source Our Linen

Good fabric is the foundation of good clothing.

We use 100% European linen — sourced from mills that specialise in natural fibres. The flax is grown in Western Europe, where the climate produces some of the finest long-staple linen in the world. We choose suppliers who stone-wash the fabric before it reaches us, so it arrives pre-softened and ready to cut.

Why does fabric sourcing matter for handmade clothing?

The fabric determines how a garment drapes, how it ages, and how it feels against the skin. Cheap linen pills. It wrinkles unevenly. It doesn't soften — it just wears out. Quality European linen does the opposite. It gets better with every wash. That's why we won't compromise on where our fabric comes from.

What makes European linen different?

European flax is rain-fed, not irrigated. It requires no pesticides. The fibres are longer and stronger than tropical alternatives, which means the finished fabric is more durable and has a better hand feel. It's also naturally antibacterial and temperature-regulating — cool in summer, warm when layered.

How do you verify fabric quality?

Every batch is checked before cutting. We look at weight, weave consistency, and softness. If something doesn't meet the standard, it doesn't get used. There's no point in making a beautiful garment from mediocre fabric.
