Custom Sizing at No Extra Cost
Every piece at Souls In Clothes is made to order in a small Bulgarian atelier — and that means we can cut it to fit you, not a size chart. Custom sizing costs nothing extra, requires no special order process, and isn’t reserved for premium pieces. It’s the standard. If your bust, waist, or hip falls between sizes, or if you have a specific length, sleeve, or shoulder requirement, you tell us and we cut to it.
This page explains how it works, when to use it, and what to send.
How it works
You order normally — pick a piece, pick a base size, add it to your bag. At checkout, you’ll see an “Order notes” field. That’s where you write your measurements, or any sizing notes you want us to see.
When the order arrives at the atelier, Larah reads the notes before drafting the pattern. If your measurements fall outside the standard size you selected, she adjusts the pattern to match. The garment is then cut and sewn to your specifications — same production timeline as a standard order (typically 5–10 business days before dispatch), same materials, same care, same price.
There is no upsell, no premium tier, no “tailored fit” surcharge. The reason it costs nothing extra is structural: we cut every piece by hand, after you order. There is no inventory we’re replacing with a custom piece. The marginal effort to cut to your measurements rather than to a standard size is essentially zero on our end.
When custom sizing helps most
Standard sizes (XS through 4XL) work for most customers. Custom sizing is where it makes a real difference:
- You’re between two standard sizes (e.g., a size M waist with size L hips). Send both measurements; we cut to the actual line your body draws.
- You’re tall or petite outside the standard size chart’s height range. Most of our patterns are drafted for 165–175 cm. If you’re 158 cm or 182 cm, length adjustments make a substantial difference, especially on dresses, jumpsuits, and trousers.
- You’re plus-size and the standard 4XL doesn’t cover your measurements. We can cut larger; ask before ordering and Larah will tell you honestly whether the pattern scales for your specific piece.
- You’re pregnant or postpartum and need accommodation for a bump or shifted measurements. Send your current measurements + how many weeks; Larah adjusts the pattern accordingly.
- You have specific fit preferences that don’t match standard cuts: shorter rise on trousers, longer length on a dress, narrower shoulder on a coat, looser waist, deeper armhole. Tell us in the order notes.
- You have asymmetry between sides (one shoulder lower, one hip wider). We can cut a custom right and left side from the same pattern.
What to send
Send what you can. If you only have one or two measurements, that’s fine — Larah will work with what’s available. The more you send, the better the fit. Useful measurements:
- Bust — around the fullest part of the chest, arms relaxed at sides, tape level around the body
- Waist — narrowest part of the torso, tape sitting horizontally
- Hip — fullest part of the seat, tape level
- Shoulder to wrist (for sleeves) — straight line from shoulder point to wrist with arm slightly bent
- Inseam (for trousers) — top of inner thigh to where you want the hem to fall, with shoes you’ll wear with the piece
- Total height — useful for proportion-checking even on pieces that don’t directly depend on height
- Any specific concerns — “I prefer trousers shorter than standard,” “the standard waistband digs in for me,” “I want extra room through the bust” — write whatever’s useful.
We work in centimetres at the atelier; if you only have inches, send those — we convert.
What it can’t do
Custom sizing adjusts existing patterns. It doesn’t change the design itself. We can lengthen a sleeve, shorten a hem, widen a waist, narrow a shoulder. We cannot turn a harem pant into a palazzo, change a neckline from off-shoulder to crew, add pockets where there are none, or change the construction of a piece.
If you want a fundamentally different piece, message the atelier first. Larah occasionally takes on full bespoke commissions when the request is close enough to an existing pattern. Those are quoted separately and aren’t part of free custom sizing.

Have a question first?
Before ordering, you can message the atelier with your measurements and a piece you’re considering. Larah will reply with whether the cut will work for your body and what to expect. We’d rather have that conversation upfront than after.
